About Balachandhar Tirunelveli Nallasivan
Balachandhar Tirunelveli Nallasivan is a passionate PhD student at the University of Groningen, Netherlands, specializing in cancer research focused on tumor biology and drug resistance mechanisms.
Prior to his doctoral studies, Balachandhar earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), where he developed a strong foundation in molecular biology and bioengineering.
At Groningen’s Cancer Research Center, his work involves applying molecular and cellular biology techniques, such as flow cytometry and gene expression analysis, to study how cancer cells evade chemotherapy. He integrates computational modeling to better understand tumor heterogeneity and identify potential therapeutic targets.
Balachandhar’s interdisciplinary approach combines wet-lab experiments with data-driven methods to contribute to the development of more effective cancer treatments.
Outside the lab, he is dedicated to science outreach and mentoring students interested in biomedical research.
